Greetings Critter Trail Enthusiasts! It’s been quite a ride so far this year and we’re not done yet! Silver Springs State Park is open, with CDC guidelines being followed. In the interest of the safety of our guests, volunteers, park staff and timers, we are not going to hold a Critter Trail 5K in 2020. We made this decision after much consideration, debate and deliberation. No one knows what the immediate future holds and we chose to protect everyone by postponing our race until it’s safe for groups of people to gather. We are considering a partnership 5K with another non-profit organization in May, 2021. There is much to be worked out as you can well imagine and nothing has been decided as of this date. We love having all of you enjoy the park on the trails and hope that you will make a trip to the park, even if you’re not racing. The trails are open, Glass Bottom Boats are running with reduced capacity, kayak and canoe rentals are open with proper distancing and safety procedures. We hope you’ll come visit. We want you to know that we greatly appreciate your support over these past 6 years. You have helped the park in many ways and we imagine the park has helped you with it’s accessibility, experiences and natural beauty. If you would like to donate to the Friends efforts to continue to protect and preserve our beautiful state park, you can do so here on our website. You could even become a member of the Friends of Silver Springs State Park to get all of the latest news. A Friends membership also includes 12 free admissions to the park. You can run or walk whenever you like! We are continuing to work on projects from afar, lots of Zoom meetings and discussions on how to fund park projects and encourage visitors from all over to enjoy the benefits of a truly natural setting in our jewel of Florida, Silver Springs State Park. Come get some park on ya! Sincerely, The Critter Trail Team Andy, Marianne, Andrea, Jane |
