Florida Springsfest 2022 by David Rossiter A cadre of Friends show up for tabling duty at Springsfest (from left to right, Jane Kauffman, Mary Baggs, MJ Walsh, Walter Nickerson, Andrea Rossiter and Craig Baggs.) Notice the attractive new design for the Friends table created by Mary & Craig. SpringsFest 2022 marked a return from its covid hiatus, this time with a reduced footprint and a goal of re-establishing the Fest as a premier event for Silver Springs State Park. Official attendance recorded 6,119 visitors over the two days. With this successful event now in the rear-view mirror, 2023 will be planned as a larger and more impactful event. Friend Ty Benson provides SpringsFest patrons with information on flora and fauna during their tram ride along the Creek Trail. CSO volunteers recorded $1170 in sales, mostly from a drawing for two days in one of the cabins at the Park. Congratulations to Friend, Elaine Tucci, who won the drawing and a weekend stay at Silver Springs. We also debuted mobile online payments, making it easier for Park patrons to pay with credit cards. From right to left: Friends Kathy Bailey and Martha Ross help artist Rob Smith by showing kids how to have maximum fun & learning with Smith’s SpringsFest coloring book. In addition, the SpringsFest made use of our new online system for recruiting volunteers for CSO and Park events. The new system replaces the old clipboard signup system and facilitates the work of event coordinators in assigning volunteers to accommodate event requirements and volunteer preferences. Ongoing development work will continue to make the system more efficient and user-friendly. Silver Springs Photographer Richard Rosetto
